I meditate by getting my work done.

You don't NOT if your a person, mediation appears to have been created and made into laws to protect COMPANIES, Like Doctors, Lawyers and Insurance Companies and to compromise your rights they pay a lot of taxes and have a lot of lobbist, it's used as the lowest buy out for damages done if you accept it, I am assuming here that you are talking about this form of mediation , other forms of mediation are generally contracts mediations or resolution of the breach there of, and other forms of settlements mediations, or buy out mediations. State and list EXACLY what outcome you want and expect it does not matter what it is they will try and negotiate you down no matter what and while I generally dislike them emencely, try and get a lawyer who wil REALLY work in your best Interest (what a laugh) either way you'll have to pay them so have funds for the fight and when they run out your screwed, it's all about the money and has NOTHING to to with JUSTICE and the law is basically irrelevent IF you have given your rights away EVEN without your knowledge LOOK and READ EVERY SCRAP OF PAPER AND FINE PRINT and don't rely on them to be honest with you about what you are signing as they may try and slip something else in and yes they are that low , even though you maybe justified it does NOT mean you will ever see justice .. ~Nemo~

You are talking about Meditation and not Mediation Right? Assuming this to be true, please read previous questions and answers that go into detail about how to meditate. As far as meditating for an outcome, seems like you are talking now about mediating for an outcome. Outcomes of meditation would be peace, higher awareness, better health, enlightenment, happiness...

I stop, relax, breath...and listen to the world around me, when all thoughts have gone from my head...and only sounds and focus then I start thinking about the important things in life...and meditate on different aspects of it. I do this for awhile, until I come up with a solution to a problem, an answer to a question...and sometimes I dont have a question so I just focus on what I am listening to and then write about it later. Other times I meditate is when I get into scripture or become thirsty for spiritual drink. I get so focused on figuring things out, piecing togather...or reading a verse and thinking about it and it alone along with my life and the world... Also prayer is a form of meditation. Its where you focus on problems in and out of the family and in your life, ask for guidance...to see the positive aspect of the situation, to focus on solution...to pray for those who are going through a rough time and ask for him to watch over them and keep them in high spirits along with healing of any sort. And just showing you are in support of other things. Asking for something that is needed in due time when it can be used to the bst of ability, of words of wisdom in situations...patience in frustrating times, and compassion twords others. Meditation is needed much. It is best to learn how to do it all the time without really focusing on it. Relax, breath, focus....1,2,3....breath. simplify...and your thoughts will roll liked water.

If you are vested in an outcome, you are not allowing the surrender process to manifest. Let go and trust all will happen for your good. Then focus on just keeping the thoughts out.

I recently learned a method suggested by Edgar Cayce, America's Prophet. It uses one of the Psalms from the Holy Bible, but you need not be religious to use it. The Psalm is "Be Still and Know God". Breathe in thinking or saying "Be Still", emphasizing the word "Still". Breathe out thinking/saying "Know God" emphasizing the word "God". If it helps, you can think of "God" as any higher power.
