You're reading The male orgasm has a definite function in the reproduction process: it pushes his sperm out. What FUNCTION does the female orgasm serve, except for giving her intense pleasure? She doesn't NEED to orgasm to get pregnant.

If that were so, and I think it is, isn't it curious that the woman is the only female animal experiencing the orgasm? Why are females of other species deprived of this "pleasure"? At least that's what I've read, unless recent research has indicated otherwise, in which case I stand corrected.

I'm not sure on that. Maybe our brains developed in such a way that we don't feel the need to pay attention to the hormones that would otherwise drive us to mate, even without pleasure.
