  • Because they work in a call center and their life sucks....So they have to bring someone down with them.
  • Mostly this is a matter of poor training, customer-unfriendly company policies, and employee "disempowerment" by the company. If you have to listen to people complaining on the phone all day, and there's little you can do to help them because the policies are restrictive, it's pretty normal to develop defense mechanisms internally so you won't feel like a total schmuck :) Being rude or domineering or callous to the customer are manifestations of those defenses. You have to blame this stuff on whomever is managing customer service and setting the policies for problem resolution.
  • They do what they're paid for -- Shoo you away. But I'm glad you persisted.
  • I have had some problems with this also. I always ask why they cannot do this and many times will ask to see the manager.
  • Because the work to salary ratio is already in your favor as the consumer and the rest is in the favor of the company. We get scraps that are left. Meaning that for every dime you spend. such a small fraction of that goes to employees... You're not worth the effort when you add snotty to the equation. and you are almost all snotty! Should be slapped in reality the way some service people are treated!
  • well duh, if they took our returns they would have to pick up that magic thing they call a pen & circle your item on the receipt then wave that scanny thing over your return to tell them what you get back & dear lord, thats a lot of work!! Lol
  • To either keep from having to do anything or to exert some form of psuedo power. Compensate for no real power.
  • Hold on to your anger Mill, what I am about to say is how I see it not to anger anyone.......perhaps the customer service person could not or did not have the ability to do what you wanted........perhaps it took a manager to over-ride the "COULDN'T" into a "COULD". Sometimes the system is just set up that way. I have the power to WRITE a ticket, once written I lose the power to make that ticket go away. However a judge has the power to make it less then what it is........so it's the same theory, chill out it seems you wanted to be more RIGHT then get the problem correct!
