  • I frequently travel those long barren highways out west. Once my alternator died in the middle of nowhere and I couldn't raise a signal on my cell phone. I had decided I would have to walk to the nearest "somewhere", and just started out when here came a state trooper! He called a tow company for me and waitied until the truck came. I wrote a thank you letter to his commander. So yes, that is definitely something police will do on those long barren stretches of highway.
