I'm not one to argue, but it was Peter not Paul, and he did not think that he was fit to be crucified in the same way as Christ :-)

Those Romans suffered from some kind of "Executioner's Dyslexia" (just a joke, not to be taken seriously). But seriously, according to what I remember reading at a Catholic School, he didn't think he was fit to die the same way Jesus did.
