They are afraid of not being loved for being who they are,and it is blind fear,I guess.*

Because bowing to peer pressure etc and following the crowd, group, clique, etc .... makes them feel a part of it and gains the acceptance of their peers ... and not being an outsider .

Because they are teenagers and haven't learned yet.

Survival instinct genarally it is better to be part of the succesful heard than an outcast. (my opinion anyway)

Negative and positive feedback along with fear that if they were themselves, they would not be accepted by their peers.
