Your link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Indigenous_peoples#Jews_in_Asia.3F Israel is the historical, religious and cultural home-land of the Jewish people... as for being indigenous - we are from no single place. There are no Canaanites in existance today and the Ancient Philistines were Greek. ----- COMMENTS singwell wrote: You have to be careful with wikipedia. There are great factual articles and then there are those which are opinions. Though the Jewish people have been scattered for centuries, DNA taken from Cohens (priestly caste) from various parts of the diaspora shows that they have descent from a common patriarch, who is almost certainly Levi, the son of Jacob whose descendants tended the tabernacle and the temples. That there might be also DNA from the areas they have lived in since the fall of the last temple (70 AD) is inevitable, considering the number of Jewish women who were raped over the centuries (intermarriages being rare, as they are not sanctioned by Mosaic Law.) the claims of them being descendants of Asia converts to Judaism is the claim being put forward by Islam to negate the claims of the Jewish state to Israel. Of course, the Jews are "indigenous". Their histories, their genealogies, their blood proves it. [...] [Re: Canaanites. There are no Canaanites in existance today.]

First: you cannot always trust Wiki. Second: The Jewish people were scattered for 2000 years. Third: They moved there from Ur. They were in Egypt for 400 years before they returned to take possesion of the land. None of that matters now. They are in possession of it now.
