Interestingly, the bible's perspective of soul is that rather than us "having" a soul, it shows we "are" a soul. Genesis speaks of this in Chapter two, although some versions have been tailored for their own benefits. Also it shows that souls that sin die. Ezekiel 18:4.

Okay, if this is a sincere question about how people who claim to follow God "feel" in their souls..and WHEN do souls appear...I will try to answer. We are three parts. The body The soul (your personality) The Spirt (that part that belongs to God from birth, yet until you believe, it is darkened) You can't deny we have a body. You can't deny we have a personality. It's not something you can weigh, measure or even touch, but it's there. Even pets/animals have personalities. That is their soul. So, you are really wondering about the "Spirit". The "Spirit" is the place God lives when you ask him to rule over your life. (this is what separates us from the animals- they have souls, but NOT spirits) So, you are born with a soul & spirit, and when you recognize God for who He is, your spirit comes alive.(your soul is always there in the form of your personality) This is why people "born again" tell others of "feeling different" from the moment they accept Christ. Their spirit just "filled with his presence" and they can not deny it because it is from their core, and they DO feel something like they never have before. ON the other hand, you have people who reject God, so their spirit never awakens and they have no clue of this "feeling" someone else tells them about. They don't feel it, so therefore, they tend to believe it must be some emotional thing broken people cling too when their own mind can't handle or muddle through it" What they are missing is: something (God) came into that person's spirit and awakened it to who He is, and it changed them from the inside out. And unless the same thing (God) comes into your Spirit, you can't/won't feel it. God is the switch that turns on the light bulb (spirit) in the room (your body). If it never gets switched on, the light bulb - although always in the room- will not shine and give light. It just hangs there - waiting for the currant. An unbeliever is someone whose light bulb hasn't felt the current of electricity - and remains off/darken. The room functions the same, it even has a nice window (soul) --but there is no light during the night (hard times)- because no one knew to flick the switch to turn the light bulb ON. (and reap the benefits light at night provides) Maybe they don't know the light bulb provides light in the dark. Maybe they do, but don't want to pay the price it costs to turn it on. (Obey God's laws) Either way, the light bulb has always been in the room. (the spirit in the body from birth) You can turn it on or not, but turning it on when dark days come, has it's benefits.
