  • It could mean that he/she is embarrassed to be seen talking to you in front of someone else who is there. If no one else is present, it could mean that he/she just doesn't like you. It happens.
  • Several things occur to me: - Maybe something else is in their mind at the moment and they're giving perfunctory, one-word answers - Possibly they aren't comfortable with what's being discussed or are witholding something and don't say it right away, putting up a nice front. - Perhaps they're more shy than you thought.
  • Maybe you done something to offend them or hurt their feelings and they are to scared to discuss it. Or, the other way around. They may have done something behind your back and they are feeling guilty about it...and you don't know it yet. The best thing to do is ask what's wrong with them.
  • unfortunatly they either are scared of you or dont like you.
  • I have a friend who is exactly as you describe in your question. He is what is known as a "High-functioning Autistic." Folks with Autism SOMETIMES do not look at you when you are addressing them, even though they are aware of exactly what you are saying, and do respond intelligently to your comments and questions. He is better educated than I and extremely clever. He managed, believe it or not, to serve 20 years in the United States Navy (Active Duty) as a shipboard Navigator, and NOT ONCE did his superiors (or the medical staff) ever suspect he was afflicted from birth, with Autism.
  • They don't like you, or they don't want to talk about what you are talking about. The wish you would just go away and leave them alone!
