  • I would not classify MADD as right wing or left wing. The laws were changed because it was what the people wanted (not 18-20 y.o.'s) but pretty much most everyone else.
  • I wouldn't call MADD right wing, but the right does have groups like the John Birch Society and others.
  • I wasn't aware that you had to get approval from "the people" before you put an idea in front of the people's representatives. People elect their representatives, individual people and groups put ideas in front of them, and then the representatives vote on them. If "the people" don't like the result, they vote their former representatives out of office and put somebody in place who feels differently. This is called representative democracy. "Does the right wing have special interest groups?" What planet have you been living on? "There are other groups that lobby the right wing against the people's will." Huh? I assume from that statement that it would be OK to lobby the right wing if you get "the people's" permission up front. How exactly does one go about getting the people's permission to express your views? Inquiring minds want to know.
  • It might be more accurate to say that special interest groups have the right wing. Except for those that have the left wing. And the others that swing both ways. . Special interest groups thrive because the US government is in a position to give out money and special deals. This was never the intent of the Founding Fathers but it is how things are now.
  • The drinking age was 21 long before MADD. A few states were 18, but this was done as a public health concern. Don't like it? Turn 21...problem solved.
  • When doesn't the right wing have special interest groups. MADD got the government to change things that needed to be done.
