  • So many people believe there are witches and witchcraft mainly by three reasons: 1) Due to very demonstrative psychological effect of hypnotic suggestivity. This because most of perception functions are uncontroled by the consciousness. 2) Due to miracle complexity of the world and many unexplained paradoxes, like telepathy. 3) Due to a dedicated function in frontal lobe of human brain, responsible for faith. This actually leads to a nice paradox: Gods may exist or may be not, but faith gives a tremendous competitive advantage to human groups, supported by faiths of its members.
  • Back then Pagans whom were healers, were considered witches for doing the unexplained. They used herbs and plants to heal wounds and form remedies. Contrary to the Catholic practice, they were massacred and blamed of witchcraft.
  • Blind faith.
  • Because people will basically believe anything.
  • Just last night there was an article on "Sunday" (a weekly news article program) about the ever growing belief or rather the accusation that children (thousands of them) in South Africa, were witches, and it was their fault that families were bereft of money and had bad luck. Accustions came from the pastor of churches who then charged money to exoricse the child of evil. It appears to us as simply a money-making scam more than anything else. The children were terrified and subject to physical abuse in the exorcism. It was absolutely abhorrent! The parents told the media they believed that their children WERE witches "because the pastor told us so". Sad .. very sad!
  • There still are witches and witchcraft.
  • There are witches and witchcraft..I don't get this question :P
  • Somethin' to do? ;-)
  • Because there are witches. Wicca is a form of witchcraft. It is a Pagan religion. I happen to be a witch and I'm proud of it.
  • For the same reason people still believe in god. It's easier to believe and entertain fantasy than it is to not believe and deal with reality. The path of least resistance.
