  • I think for me its both. Constant AB-ing definatley keeps the boredom bugs at bay but it's also nice to help someone out.
  • A mix of both.
  • mostly boredom....
  • Mostly out of boredom.
  • I came here to help and I stay here to help. I also learn things and enjoy many of the regular people.
  • Yes I answer them for my own satisfaction and in the hope that somewhere in the process something of help or interest, may find its way to a person that needed help like i did when i arrived here
  • As far as my answers go, both. Mostly to help though.
  • Originally I came here to get help. I then realized I might be able to help others so I hung around. And today it turns out, I am back to square one, needing help which I am receiving.
  • a little of both, but i generally like answering the questions because its fun. i like to see how many i can answer.
  • both really, a lot of the questions aren't really to "help" but they are fun
  • When they ask me questions where they need help.. i honestly give them my truest answer only to help them. But i answer the stupid ones outta boredom.
  • A little from column A, A lot from column B. I only intended to do it as a way to kill time between my classes, but then i go sucked into the site, and I guess I try to be helpful but i'm sure some ABrs would beg to differ.
  • Mostly boredom .. I try and help but find many others have already given the same type of advice I would have so I answer more fun questions to pass the time. I do learn new things when people ask serious questions on issues I would want to know answers about.
  • Of course to help out when advice is requested. I think there are planty of nonsense silly questions that we respond to out of boredom.
  • It is a mixture of both, but mostly boredom. I also enjoy reading other people's questions and answers.
  • I think it started out as boredom, then I was learning a few things on the way. If someone can help me with questions, why shouldn't I help them!
  • If I'm bored, then I stay on the new questions page and just respond to popular questions that are easy to answer. When I'm feeling helpful, I head in to the unanswered questions section and see if I can help anybody out there.
  • of course i always answer questions -(to help) because i feel the need to spread some knowledge to other people...but never because i do it inspite of sheer boredom..if im bored, ill go to the other Q&A site to kill time. as others have said, its not about the points...but the satisfaction you get when your answer is rated "helpful"
  • I have a lot to do in life and have little time to be bored. I have been ill these last couple of days so have spent a great deal of time here. Every answer I give (with the exception of the silly questions which I answer just for the fun of it) is intended to be a help to others in some way. Sometimes it may seem that I am being harsh as when I deal with the Mormons, GlennBob particularly, but the root of my behavior here is to provide useful information as well as helping others. Meybe some of my answers will even help to make the world a better place for us all. Sometime there are obvious biology test questions that I will not generally answer because I believe people are better off doing their own homework. Once they are seasoned and unanswered for a few weeks or longer then I will often answer them simply to provide information to non scientists.
  • Trolls do.
  • Tell me one thing you ever stuck with because you were bored? We do this because we believe we have been to Hell and back and if anything we have learned helps anyone.......... It was worth it!
  • Both, I try to help where I can...and the opinion questions fill the boredom part of the equation
  • Both. Not all questions or answers here are THAT helpful, but some are and so are plain humourous and interesting. You can learn a lot of new significant things, which might help you out, and it also kills time and the boredom.
  • I answer some to help, some because I know the answer, some because they are funny, some out of boredom; it just depends on how I'm feeling that day or what the question is.
  • to share answers (some ppl here give great answers BTW). and if i answer, it is to help. P.S: and i don't think me answering to a question like this is anyway helpful. do you think it's helpful in anyway Gracin?
  • I answer for both. But when I'm answering a question that would hopefully help somebody out I spend more time on my answers to make them more accurate, easy to understand and provide more information than I would on other answers.
  • I enjoy learning from looking up the answers to questions, Especially if i'm interested in the subject matter.
  • Mostly because I'm bored, and that I have questions too..
  • Mostly because thats why we are here, question, answer questions, can give an answer even if no one is listening, or cares. I have a voice!
  • I like to help people. And it occupys my interest so I am not bored when I am here so I guess it could be interpreted as both.
  • I certainly hope it is to help someone. Otherwise I'm wasting their time and mine.
  • Well, you know what they say,... you get what you pay for.
  • i think that the vast majority of the questions that i ve answered since i got here were relationship questions.i keep seeing the same problems that i myself have had to deal with.probably 96 % of my answers have been relationship related.the others would be the fun questions, there are some quick thinking people here that have given some extremely funny answers.
  • I answer questions, because: 1) I have a lot of fun in looking for the answers myself 2) I like to help 3) I can brush up my english 4) sometimes unexpected things happen So "help somebody" goes, "out of boredom" is not an option (I am normally not bored)
