    I think it is always best to get a feel for an animal, and get to know their personality a bit before naming, or go by a trait they have. For example, my little girl beardie is named Phoenix, because she is a super orange sandfire, and so looks like fire. With reptiles the name is usually more for you than them, unlike a dog or cat that will usually respond to their name. So go with something you like and think wounds right!
