Do you think they should legalize assisted suicide? If so, should it be limited to terminally ill patients, or should anyone be able to receive physician assistance(with a waiting period)?

This is probably the most complicated ethical debate out there for me... what I think ethically, and what I think practically are so different. It hurts my head to try and give you an answer!! Ethically, I am not against assisted suicide. I have a lot of empathy for the patients and the families of patients who may ask for help; and I hate the idea of somebody going to prison for assisting a family member do something they desperately wanted. In practice though - I just can't see how it could be implemented safely without people having assisted suicide under pressure/not in sound mind/for more trivial cases etc. This is almost a question of protection on some levels, but not everybody's rights, needs or desires can be protected at the same time. Tough one!!

Of course, the right to live goes hand in hand with the right to die.
