  • No, I've never been to one (and would love an invitation), but it is my understanding that it is a private gathering (families or companies or churches) where all kinds of seafood is served (including clams) and gluttony is encouraged. I attended something similar in Houston, Texas, called a "Shrimp Boil," which is primarily shrimp, of course, but there was also some wonderfully fresh crab meat on which attendees were asked to gorge. It was sponsored by my ex-wife's employer.

  • Yes and I clearly remember one that my father's side of the family held in Maine when I was a child. The lobster, crabs and clams we ate were all caught by family members. It was also the first time I went fishing in a boat.
