  • No matter who McCain chose as his running mate, it was a long shot to win the presidency. Picking Sarah Palin was a hail mary pass that he hoped would pay off, but it did not.
  • I think he realizes now that Palin is and was a problem for the party. She is over the edge and far to radical for the party. That will probably the last we see of either of them.
  • I think he was doomed from the beginning honestly. But i also think, he knows when he picked that hypocrite he knew he pulled the dirt in the grave for his election.
  • I think he thought he was giving his supporters what they wanted: a Washington outsider. The problem is that he was running his campaign on the assumption that his base would not challenge him. For some reason he forgot that he wasn't running to please his base but to challenge his opponent on issues. By not properly vetting Palin and relying on her charisma rather than policy and experience he took a huge chance. I think in hindsight he and the rest of his party can see that consolidating the focus of his campaign on characters drew the focus from issues. He strayed from the formula that Rove exploited where they beat hot button issues to death and sowed fear in the extremists to disseminate among the masses. Palin's charisma just couldn't hold against Obama's focus on issues and message of hope.
  • I'm sure he has. But his pride will always get in the way of admitting so.
  • Does nobody know that Obama, McCain, Bush...and all of them are cousins...somehow. Everything you see during the election, and in politics is just a giant soap opera. He did it on purpose. Obama was gonna win no matter what. Its inevitable (dont believe me on the cousin thing?) It was on CNN look it up on youtube.
  • I think political insiders know the real reason he picked her. and the media is "whitewashing" it, i still think the reason he picked her was because: there was a large backlash from lots of females when Hilary lost, and many said they would vote Republican. He thought he would capitalize on this by picking a female, and tried to bake her seem like she was down home, so she could identify with what they thought were the average "democratic female voters" Plan backfired, because the anger only lasted a couple weeks, if they would have had the election within a week of the democratic primary ending, McCain would have won.
  • Palin was no mistake. She's the most dangerous person to Democrats in the Republican Party. Which is why she's STILL under attack from the Left and the Media. If she weren't a threat, she'd have been forgotten almost immediately.
  • The Republicians biggest mistake was McCain & the campaign he ran was his biggest mistake. Running mates rarely make much difference in an election, other than to the media. They have to have something to talk about & most members of the media are too shallow for real insight & so go for the easy stories.
