  • I love that picture!! I think Okham's Razor is, quite simply, a brilliant observation.
  • Makes sense to me.... & what a great name.
  • i like it...short sweet to the point. Minimalism :)
  • Lol , the name is killer and it true!
  • Excellent observation!
  • Hehe. I have that same poster on my wall. It's fun. But, Occam was wrong, unfortunately: sometimes the correct explanation is the complicated one. There just really isn't a rule which applies to all situations. I think Occam's Razor is a tool worth having -- it's a good idea to stop sometimes and just ask "now really, which is more likely here?" It does have some ability to slice through baloney in the right hands. The trouble is only when people turn it into their only tool, or fail to see times when it doesn't apply. Quantum Mechanics would never occur to someone who wants the simplest, most obvious explanation to "win" every time. Neither would relativity, or a whole bunch of other scientific theories. And advanced mathematics? That stuff can smoke the brains of all but the smartest and most trained. There's some *very* complex truths in life, made no less true by their complexity. As long as one is aware of that, it doesn't hurt to keep a razor like this on hand for special occasions.
  • Works as long as you aren't shaving away the variances. I still prefer a large data base and working within the curve.
  • The best place to start your inquiry and helpful gadget to carry all along your path.
  • Fantastic tool which has nothing to do with the picture at that link. The correct term should of been calculate X because it would still be marked wrong if your work was not shown. So the person answering did find X and within the definition of the word find was correct, that makes the statement at the bottom incorrect. The only time a simple cleaver answer is wrong is when you are dealing with an entrenched violent authority figure, then you better tell them exactly what they want to hear. It does not matter whether it's true, moral, rational or remotely related to common sense it's the correct answer if you want to avoid a beating.
