Ha! I think it simply means "polished", white rice, K., as opposed to natural brown rice. Brown rice still has the covering that contains the B vitamins and protein.

Ha! Cute thought. Maybe rice raised in the Orient as a Buddhist or Hindu but converted to Christianity for sale in the West. No, actually it is brown rice converted to something approaching white by soaking and pressurized cooking. I far prefer the richer taste of brown or red rice.

It used to be long grain, but it converted to a shorter grain.

It was just plain white rice and decided it wanted more out of life so it converted to wild rice.

I don't think it was religious.... it was because it was always a female rice caught in the males body.

It was potatoes from Idaho. Excess over the winter and it was converted to rice.
