The very best method I have found is to alter my body language. Try it. Next time you find yourself in a bad mood, stop and take notice of your body language. Your facial expressions, for example, if depressed, will droop. Like gravity has a greater hold on your face than the rest of you. Then remember the face, and body posture you have when you're in a good mood, and take on that posture. Almost instantly, you'll find that you are feeling better. It all has to do with how much control you have over your thought process. Truth be told, it is a power that few of have us exercised, and yet it is often key to our ability to function maturely, and peacefully in our lives. To illustrate the power of thoughts, close your eyes, and imagine that you are slicing a lemon into quarters. Then, in your mind, pick up 1/4 of the lemon and bite into it. Imagine that you can feel the juices bursting in your mouth. If you are like most, after you do this exercise you will experience an increase of saliva, and your face will get that sour look. Now ask yourself, "Where was that lemon before I thought it? Before I read these words in Metaphiz's answer to this question?" As Dr. Deepak Chopra says, "It existed only in the realm of potential." Our mood controls our behavior, our thoughts control our mood, and we control our thoughts from the level of the soul, our will.
