Why did Larry Fine of the Three Stooges never get the good lines that Moe and Curly always did?

He got a few good lines. One of my fav's: Moe: "How much do you charge to haunt a house?" Larry: "How many rooms?"

Larry is what you call the "straight man".

Larry was the middle man. He did occasionally get some good lines and even more so during the Shemp films and especially in the awful ones with Joe. His job was as the middle man was to react mainly to the interactions of Moe and Curly. Several movie critics have actually stated that Larry was the best actor of the three and some of his facial reactions when Moe slapped Curly were hilarious. A few years ago a book was put out called "One Fine Stooge" in which Larry's memoirs were found and published. It is the best book I have ever read on the Stooges. If any of you are fans, you may want go to amazon.com or a few other places and pick that one up.
