No, for example Jesus was not a vegetarian. There is one instance in the Bible where he ate fish. I believe it is somewhere at the end of Luke (maybe Matthew). Correct me if I'm wrong on where it is.

No, it instructs people to include some veggies in their diet.

Naw, it's telling people to grow lots of reefer and then smoke it

(to be clear, i eat meat, i love meat) Yes it does! We were created vegetarians, just like all the other creatures were. But now read Genesis 9:1-4. You never know if these things are true, but it's interesting nonetheless (it's a while back I heard this so I only know the rough concept): a herbivore's digestion system has the ability to digest plants and to get all the necessary nutriants out of plants alone. A carnivore's digestion system does NOT have that ability, and to survive it needs to eat herbivores, which have these nutriants in their bodies. That's the biological story as far as I know. But the interesting part is this: from air-inclusions (in ice or amber) you can get data about the atmospheric circumstances in 'the good old days'. When scientists imitated these circumstances and placed a large felid (like a tiger, lion, bobcat, whatever, not sure what it was) in the chamber suddenly their digestionsystem WAS capable of digesting plants only. I think it is highly likely the flood caused a change in atmosphere, hence making it necessary for carnivores, and apparently also humans to eat meat. Why else would God tell us we could?

yes it does clearly say that we are to eat vegetables. Matthew 15:11-not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Mark 7:18,19-so He said to them "are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?" these 2 scriptures are for that exact saying. Jesus came to fulfill the law not change it. not eating meat or certain kinds in the bible the Jews thought they were saved and all dat. read matthew or mark and it will tell you that. how is something going to defile you if it goes into your stomach and the acid and enzymes break it down. well hope i helped

What about Deuteronomy 14:6 "Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat."

Acts 10:11-16 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him,as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. In the Garden of Eden, there wasn't any death, so meat wasn't eaten. Death and suffering came with sin. I don't think man ate meat until after Noah's flood. If you think all other creatures are vegetarians, go jump into a pit of hungry lions.

So it would seem originally. But then he tells Noah in Gen 9:3 "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything." So break out your BBQ grills and have at it!

You must remember that Genesis 1:29 was BEFORE the Fall. It appears that, before sin (=rebellion against God's law) people were meant only to eat plants. After the Fall, however, there was a threefold rupture in relationships. The first of these was a severing of the relationship between humans and the natural world. This is when humans began to eat the companions God had made for them, when disease first entered the equation and when humans began to upset the balance of nature in general . (The other two ruptures were the relationship between humans and other humans= war, hatred, abuse etc; and the relationship between Humans and their Creator=eternal death) Jesus' death on the Cross has restored the relationship between humans and their Creator. Now, it is possible for humans to enter into the presence of God, and to have eternal life. When Jesus returns a second time, he will end history and introduce a new heaven and a new earth, in that way restoring the relationships between humans and creation and humans and other humans.

ALSO THERE IS...(Genesis 9:3) Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for YOU. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to YOU. MEAT IS ALLOWED...

Well, first, I am not a "fundamentalist", in that I do not take the Genesis story literally. But, even if it were literally true, you must remember that the Garden of Eden was not the whole earth. It was created especially for this "special" new creature, Adam. It is possible to eat a vegetarian diet and be healthy, but only in such a special place would sufficient foods be available for a human to do this. Since humans were, according to the story, "cast out" of this earthly paradise, it was no longer possible to survive without the consumption of animal protein. "Cain was a tiller of the fields, and Able was a keeper of flocks". Yet, strangely, Cain becomes the villain of the story, and the meat producing Able is the "innocent victim" whose 'sacrifice' God had blessed while rejecting Cain's. Here, you have the ancient "blood sacrifice" of the ancient Hebrews colouring the story, which is really Babylonian in origin, as is the story of Noah. Look at "The Epic of Gilgamesh".

No , had that been the case Abraham would not of the visiting angels (one was God HIMSELF) MEAT!!!! Esau would not of prepared his father, Isaac, MEAT(.....and God would not of allowed the Israelites to eat fish or any other animal(mutton,etc...) ...read deeper and think.....God fed Israel BIRDS... God put all the vegetation and animals under our control to use as we see fit ...for work, medicines, feed ourselves.....we are masters of animals...had HE meant for us not et animals...the civilizing Levitical Laws would not of given "meat preparation "before we could eat...DRAIN THE BLOOD...kosher was not eating meat with milk....it was FORBIDDEN....this EXTREME ,SUPPRESSING , DOMINATION fo people was exactly what Christ scorned the Jewish Priest for doing.....and also Jesus relaxed even those , Israel Laws to civilize ,clean and unclean , were done with the COVENENANT PROMISE ACCOMPLISHED ...HE said "eat what is put before you" when HE sent out the APOSTLES and Paul taught that nothing was "unclean" anymore except what a person ,Personally ,felt unclean about!!!!separated ,clean and unclean , was OVER with Jesus.....no need for a peoples to SEPARATE CLEAN FROM UNCLEAN anymore..all men were shown to be "unclean" or clean, EQUAL, by Jesus ..Jew and Gentile....were now equal with God, no more clean and unclean and this includes foods also... So , it did not instruct that for Israelites and and (only certain MEATS) were unclean to eat BUT NEVER did GOD tell them eat VEGETABLES only...that is shallow and self righteous attitude of the Bible...u must be vegetarian and want to turn up your nose at thse not of your BELIEFS.....its wrong...if eating meat makes u feel unclean, thats ur personal thing and i respect that ..but to go around making others feel unclean is causing a BELIEVER as yourself to STUMBLE...and this is FORBIDDEN!!! u will answer for this HARM u cause...if u came to my home and was vegetarian, i would be hospitable and respectful of that and eat veggies only myself.....but not disrespect u and be rude.....if i ate meat while we are out to dinner and u criticized me....that is condemning me ,which U HAVE NO RIGHT OF THAT JUDGEMENT....so .do what u feel is right but that does not by any means others feel the same....:)JustME
