Someone guessed my secret question for my email account, accessed my emails, and forwarded private emails of mine to another person. They didn't change my password so I had no idea it happened. What can I do to find them and how can they be punished?

First of all change your password if you havent already done so. In many countries reading someone elses email is a criminal offence. Pass as to whether it is in the USA. If it is form a work email account by a work colleague that would probably be treated as a serious matter by the company. In trying to figure out who did it. Well first find out what time the emails were sent. This may help you track down the person. Was it during the day time or late at night. Can you email acconut be accessed from anywhere or only at work. These sort of questions can narrow down the search. Then think of your password. Who would have been able to guess it? Would it have had to have bene osmeone that knows you well. Or would they have had to observe you typing it. Then you have to figure out who has a grudge against you. The odds are if its web email account (one you can access from anywhere) then you will have little chance of proving who did it.
