Maybe someone with OCD? Sad people still have germs lol. or maybe if they smell horrible? I would be hesitant hugging a sad homeless person lol.

I don't like to be hugged when I am hurting emotionally, I prefer to be left alone. Consequently I wouldn't hug somebody else that is hurting, it's not that I'm not sympathetic I just don't think a hug is actually going to help better the situation.

may not be because this person doesn't like to so much as does not know how to deal with this....even tries to say something and it may not be right...all people deal different ways, with death,stress emotional...u can't just label them like this....u have no idea what kind of HEART this person has or what he has lived and been taught..he just may not be a good communicator but would love to be able to throw his arms around this person..now , if that were a child, it may be a different story, although they still don't know how to be this way, a child will usually bring anyone to their knees, otherwise they have serious issues.....it starts at home..but thats .:)justme

Some people are just uncomfortable showing and sharing emotions. I think it's a very freeing and healthy thing to do.

Some people just cannot show emotion. Others are unsure if the person who is hurting wants close comfort. You have to know the person. I know when my Husband died the last thing I wanted was to be hugged. I would have collapsed completely. There was so much to do and only me to do it if I had people hugging me I would have broken. That is just me. I can and do hug those that want and need to be hugged.
