I think you read the verse wrong. Psalms 88:8 Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

It is true alot of people would have a complaint about translations of the bible. There are pastors that only believe in the KJV, other the NIV, others have there opinions as well. All bibles were translated from Greek, Hebrew & Aramaic. Almost the entire Old Testament was written in Hebrew during the thousand years of its composition. But a few chapters in the prophecies of Ezra and Daniel and one verse in Jeremiah were written in a language called Aramaic. The New Testament, however, was written in Greek. This seems strange, since you might think it would be either Hebrew or Aramaic. However, Greek was the language of scholarship during the years of the composition of the New Testament from 50 to 100 AD. The fact is that many Jews could not even read Hebrew anymore, and this disturbed the Jewish leaders a lot! So, around 300 BC a translation of the Old Testament from Hebrew into Greek was undertaken, and it was completed around 200 BC. Gradually this Greek translation of the Old Testament, called the Septuagint, was widely accepted and was even used in many synagogues. It also became a wonderful missionary tool for the early Christians, for now the Greeks could read God's Word in their own tongue. By way of translation, we now have His revelation in our own language and in 2300 other languages, too. Today we have the very Bible that comes to us from the three languages used in the original. Truly we can say, "God speaks my language, too!" Don't get caught up on which translation is best...the Lords words are black on this white background. Read and learn. So the question was does anyone feel like this verse in the bible is going on in there lives. Yes many a time. Feeling like you are just stuck and can not get out regardless of which way you go. I believe this describe a very deep depression. This was a very depressed time in the life of David. He feels he is close to death. the psalmist prays for rescue from the alienation (Emotional isolation)of approaching death. Hes calling to God and complains of the death that separates one from God. In imagination the psalmist already experiences the alienation (Emotional isolation) of Sheol (definition of sheol: the realm of dead, the common grave of mankind, Hell.) I hope that can explain this particular verse for those that did not understand it.
