Custom built with the best components. I have been dissatisfied with the "brand names" and all the junk they load on that I have to remove, as well as their outsourced "tech help."
-
If I had to buy a computer from a brand name, I'd go for Velocity Micro.
-
I own a new iMAC.I did not realize, till now,how truly revolutionary Macs were. The graphics and video clarity are the best in the industry. The programs that come with it are many.I have owned microsoft for years, but not any more.
-
MAC computers are awesome! for a windows, if i had to get another itd be a hp. but if i could get any id definitely get another mac
-
I prefer to build my own, but I recommend Dells for friends and colleagues that want off the shelf. The price point is usually good and the components are not too bad. Dell comes shipped with a lot of useless junk software (Demo software at that) and that takes about an hour to remove. If you have the cash and are a serious video/gamer then Alienware is the route for you.
-
Custom-built. I did own an HP for a while and it was all right. Unfortunately it came with Windows ME installed, and a whole other bunch of useless rubbish. Once I reformatted it it ran for years. You get the best buys though by buying the best components you can afford and building your own system.
-
Dell, all the way! Woot!
-
Compaq, unfortunately now its partnership with HP.
-
I build my own. It is a good hobby and is very satisfying to be able to put one together.
-
my company computers all custom even the cases
-
Depends on what you want to use it for... Media: Macintosh Gaming: Toshiba Word Processing: Dell
-
I tend to stick with what works for me, and I like HP. (I'm a poet and didn't know it)
-
I'd have to say Apple. PC brands don't really mean anything, they are just companies that build computers out of different branded parts and slap their names on the case.
-
Dell's business model has led the industry for decades. Plus they offer more options with Operating Systems (Windows Vista, Ubuntu Linux, etc). If you can build your own and know what you are doing, that is probably the best way to go IMHO.
-
I say Dell. You can customize it and everything. Its great.
-
For my purposes the MAC computers are by far the best.I am an artist and the photoshop program on the MAC is the finest. The computer never get viruses or crashes and the monitor is very clear, and the options that come with the computer are second to none.
-
In my experience: For gaming, Alienware. For graphic art and mixed media creation, Apple Macs. For on the go entertainment, Dell. For an all in one machine, HP. For people that want a piece of trash, Accer.
-
i buy costamized dell computers. i have recently costomized an XPS with an duel intell processer that holsd 2 gigs of ram each. i add a 256 mb video card and the mother boeard is an inspiron 1721. so in short. dell is really good when it comes to my computer of choice.
-
Mac.
-
personally i would much rather buy the parts and put it together myself, best customization around, but that always isnt an option, dell can give you an okay price for really good customization of its pcs. no hp computers
-
Macs (Apple).
-
None. Do it yourself and customize it according to your needs. FYI Mac's can use most PC parts these days so they too can be hand built according to your needs.
-
HP OR GATEWAY!! They both are perfect for me! I had the HP since 2004! And it still works great!
-
I believe if you want a good computer build it your self. Make a list of what you want, do some research for the best parts for what you want. Then build it. If you need help building you computer there are websites that help you to build one. I built my own and im very happy i did,
-
Mac. If you refuse to go to mac, either build it yourself or get an HP and install Ubuntu. Any computer with Windows on it fails at life.
-
I cannot simply pick out a brand and say it's the best. Every brand has it's pros and cons in hardware and performance. If you're looking for an average computer that's efficient I would say: HP. They have customer service online and by phone, yet it's not the best brand in the world.
-
uhh gateway people are hard to deal with. i would suggest dell or HP i just got a HP Pavillion dv6000 notebook and i like it because it has its own repair system and support system.
-
I have a hp and it has been great.
-
HP and Compaq are good computers. Alot of people are going with Gateway and Dell, which are also good, because of price. I have a Gateway, and enjoy the specs I am using as of now. But a buil-it-yourself computer is, by far, the greatest choice ever, only because it has the specs you prefer, the drivers and downloads you prefer, and do not come with extra, unnecessary, software, which slows your computer down. Also the PC of choice detemnes what you plan on doing with your computer, which could include personal use, gaming, business, and much more. If you are a heavy gamer, I recommend a 2.6GH processor, and 1GB RAM, remembering that these are the minimum specs recommend, not to mention Windows XP as the operating system. Yes Vista is out, but I still recommend XP. I also like the Alienware computer which was acquired by DELL. So, with this I hope to be of help to you, and hope that you choose the PC that would be of benefit to you, and your use of said computer.
-
Compaq.
-
It's The Special One™ brand personal computing system. It's an Asus board with an AMD processor, though.
-
Mine is a HP
-
Laptops, IBM, IBM, HP, HP, Compaq, Acer, Sony. Desktops and servers are all MonkeyButt 2000's. MonkeyButt 2000 is a long running joke back to the mid 90s when I decided to custom build (based on need) my own systems. MonkeyButt2000 is my own brand.
-
Mine was built by my hubby so I don't know. But it is built for gaming so it is powerful.
-
HP...something. My computer is a Frankenstein, so many parts were replaced, taken away or added, I got it fixed and upgraded so many times. It's not even in its original casing anymore.
-
my home built, the case is a cool master centurian, side is plix so you can see inside, 200GB HD with fan internal, 300GB external, power supply 500, extra fans 1GB Ram, AMD on CPU, nForce on motherBoard, NVIDIA GeForce on video, pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 CD rom,, running surround sound 5.1, rolled cables XP pro I do own a HP laptop, just for traveling and school, with XP home also
-
Mine is a Gateway 500XL.
-
I built it myself, so its a bit of everything.
-
don't have a favorite brand, i'd rather make my own. They tend to work better for me
-
One's that are hand built, that way i can choose the best parts. If you really want an answer for premade machines, I'd say 'alienware'. They look cool and have the stats to match.
-
It depends on the purpose. For general tasks, I prefer OS X over other Unix-based operating systems (and Windows is certainly not feasible). Thus, I buy Apple computers. For gaming, I build my own. I generally prefer Intel processors and nVidia video cards.
-
Anything but Acer or Gateway, both have put me through enough crap already. I'm just now warming back up to Dell.
-
I love my HP laptop, even tho she died on me once - I love the wide screen and she does EVERYTHING! :) No complaints here. Compaq is horrible, in my own personal experience though.
-
My Gateway laptop has served me sensibly through the months, tho I was hoping for an HP or a Dell, but what can I say? I got it free :)
-
I like dell's, everybody says they have excellent customer support.
-
JervCo. I pick the most cost-effective components and make 'em work together whether they want to or not.
-
I would have to agree with Jecks. The best PC you can get IS a custom built PC, but only if you know what parts to put in the computer. An overwhelming majority of custom PC's last alot longer that the 'name brand' computer. An odd fact with name brand computers is that they bid out to the lowest cost bidder to maximize profits. Lets face it, they have too, cause their overhead is incredibly high. About custom computers, you get just what you want. The parts are almost always name brand with higher warantee and higher quality. They also on average perform better for longer and have less crashes, due to the fact that they usually don't come with trash software (trial junk). Alienware I guess would be my choice of name brand PC if I HAD to go that route. I was however, I was very disappointed when Alienware sold out to Dell. I just hope that their quality doesn't drop to Dell's standards, even to Dell's XPS level for that matter (Dell's top of the line models). Hope that helps. Check this site out for custom PC's with Windows xp, Vista or even Linux: http://www.bytemecomputers.net

The one I build, just not real fond of any one brand of the of the shelf models, too many limits. The last one I just finish for a business cost around $1,400 with coolmaster case, components, monitor 19" LCD,keyboard & mouse, 8gUSB and a 500G external drive, software, it will last them for long time and all parts have warranty's and its upgradeable
