If i am allergic to penicillin, can i take clindamycin hcl, which is a generic for cleocin hcl?

Cleocin is a serious antibiotic which can have dangerous side effcts. If you take it, you must take it with medical supervision. DO NOT get some from your friend Suzy and try it out.You should tell your doctor about your penicillin allergy and any other allergies. A penicillin allergy does not equate to a clindamycin allergy. They are quite different. It IS possible to be allergic to both, just as you can be allergic to both nuts and shellfish.
