I would guess one of the parents rolled over on the infant.
-
No, but they could tell that anyway by observing for coup and countercoup damage done to the brain. In likelihood, the infant wasn't merely smothered; she was squashed, forcing blood out of her nose.
-
A four month old is kinda hard to roll over on, I'd say the baby smothered. Anything is possible.
-
Blood from the nose is an indication of a cerebral hemmorhage or possibly a heart problem.

I would think something happend. I don't see why the nose would bleed for no reason. That is just sad to even think about

The child could have also had a pre-existing condition that the parents were not even aware of. Although it is easy to assume that the parents did something to the child I don't like to jump to conclusions. There are many conditions that don't arise until later and it is very difficult to see symptons in an infant unless they are severe. It is very sad when a child has passed. My main concern though is why would you place a four month old in your bed with you to sleep I see that as being very dangerous many possilbe things could happen such as being rolled over on, knocked off the bed, etc..hopefully this is a lesson learned by these parents and informative to other parents to not do this.
