  • I definetly believe that it makes us Christians look like snooty self righteous pricks....What is so wrong about asking questions? Isn't that the purpose of not only this site, but also, in a major way, our life?
  • As retroglide said in her comment, people who are non-christians may rate the questions down,or they could be christians.I suspect that the question is rated down when it is said in an offensive or derogatory manner e.g. 'If God is so good why does he ....' (fill in the blank). This type of question is sometimes trying to provoke christians. As I said,it can also be annoying to others.
  • How do you know that it is Christians doing the downrating. I rarely downrate anybody but I get plenty of downgrades when I speak of my personal faith. I conclude that some people Christian or not simply downgrade those whom they disagree with and not the strength of argumnet! In respect to God's feelings about it I really do not believe that it has anything to do with Him He has far more important issues that concern Him. As for the effect upon Christian virtue we have the same choice as the rest of the population and being as it is not illegal to downgrade then we are perfectly within our rights to do so. Points are not the end of the world I don't give a hang if somebody marks my viewpoint with positive or negative points it is still my point of argument that matters!
  • I generally don't downrate, though I may not give any points at all. You will know when I do, as I try to make sure to leave a comment. I don't hide behind negs. However, how can you be sure who is negging? with some people, I know who it is by the number of points they take from me, but others I don't know. If I am going to neg I really think it out. I can't answer for everyone, but that is how I think. I would usually only neg a question about Christianity if it were rudely put, and even then not always. There was one put up the other day that was just plain rude...I told him so. He had a go at me, but I didn't neg him. Just told him what I thought. (he didn't get any points from me though. Rudeness does not get a reward.)
  • I'm a Christian and I think being so makes me a minority here. People are accustomed to living their own religion or being their own Gods, having different faiths, and so on and so forth. When a true Christian asks a question that exposes your faith I think he or she will be open season by those that have their own faith. BTW I have nothing against those that have different beliefs than I and actually I pray for those that do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Heck I used to be a party animal at one time and there is no way I can ever escape sin in my life but I sure do try to live with God in my daily living. It takes a great deal of discipline to be a true Christian. And as such we should not throw stones or daggers to degrade others for their beliefs, we should lead by setting good examples. Ask yourself if DR'ing somebody for a comment is going to have a negative impact on them. Sometimes it's just better not to say anything if it's not nice. After all you most likely don't know the person you are giving the DR to. Christianity is a very complex faith and being a good Christian requires a lot of work. Our best work is done by serving the needs of others that do not know the Lord intimately. I asked a question about homosexuality and was slaughtered with opinions that were far from what I believe. I was trying to understand the why questions and I guess it was a bad idea to ask. I don't think it pleases God at all when anybody tries to hurt another being. The wicked tongue is a very serious weapon and many lives have been shattered by verbal abuse. The wicked tongue can be more abusive than a physical beating; the woulds from physical pain usually heal but verbal abuse is like an arrow that cannot be retracted after its hit the target. Again I hope I have not offended anybody at all by stating my opinion to this question.
  • As an Agnostic, it only reaffirms my belief that Christianity is wrong. I know that that isn't fair to the more reasonable, moderate Christians, but then again the open-minded Christians are not the ones doing the downrating.
  • They've spent 2000 years murdering each other over whether or not it's acceptable to venerate saints, or whether a person's whole body or just their head is dunked in water to symbolize their acceptance into the cult. A group of religious fanatics that murderous, vicious, ruthless, and totally psychotic is unlikely to find a few negative points on some website too harsh for thrashing those who disagree with them. By their fruit shall ye know them, said Yeshua. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good. By their own teachings the christers have shown themselves to be a bad seed in need of weeding out.
  • I'm a Christian, but also very open-minded. I dont discriminate against people based on color or religion, and I enjoy leanring about new religions. Part of learning is asking questions. Christians should be happy to answer questions about our religion! Having people take interest in in our beliefs in God is a great way to new friendships and spreading the word about our wonderful Father.
  • i dont downrate people for asking about my religion, but i do feel sorry for them when they mock it. those who down rate others are giving christians bad names and i am sorry thye did so. if anyone has any questions feel free to always ask me.
  • "He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love." (1 John 4:8) "If anyone says, 'I love God', and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen. And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother also." (1 John 4:20-21) "Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world." (1 John 4:1) "Let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]." (1 John 4:7) "As Jesus landed, He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things." (Mark 6:34) "Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]." (Jesus, John 13:34b) "Become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32) "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy'; But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. ...Bless those who persecute you [who are cruel in their attitude toward you]; bless and do not curse them." (Matthew 5:43-44, Romans 12:14,20) "Brethren...[do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another." (Galatians 5:13) "As occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing..." (Galatians 6:10a) "Walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God's service, living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another." (Ephesians 4:2) "All [of you] should be of one and the same mind (united in spirit), sympathizing [with one another], loving [each other] as brethren [of one household], compassionate and courteous (tenderhearted and humble). Never return evil for evil or insult for insult (scolding, tongue-lashing, berating), but on the contrary blessing [praying for their welfare, happiness, and protection, and truly pitying and loving them]. For know that to this you have been called..." (1 Peter 3:8-10) "Let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)." (Ephesians 4:15) "Hatred stirs up contentions, but love covers all transgressions." (Proverbs 10:12) "Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]." (1 Peter 4:8) "Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. Above all these [put on] love..the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony]." (Colossians 3:14) "May you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God [that His glory may be both manifested and recognized]." (Philippians 1:11) "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ...In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him." (2 John 4:7-11,17)
  • I have never dr'd anyone. Also it's pretty hypocritical of you to get on christians for dr'n while your at 70%.
  • Why single out Christians? Christians can downrate like anyone else if we disagree. Being Christian does not mean that we can only upgrade lest we cast aspersion upon the name of Christ. That is absurd.
