Is there a (Line-In) jack on the back of my computer where I can hook up my stereo system so I can rip music from some of my older (phonograph) record albums and cassette tapes, and what is the jack's color code?

screw this question, i'm editing my answer because obviously it's not what the people want to hear. I am now -4... all i did was answer the question correctly... but nooooo.

Depending on the PC, there may or may not be. I have a mic-in jack that is pinkish, but the color codes seem to be done according to manufacturer whims and not any set standard. I had this issue myself. Luckilly my uncle is an audiophile with a high-end turntable and a (non-PC) CD burner in his rack.

Usually there is. There is in fact an industry standard colour code system to identify the connectors - it's just that not everyone uses it. Assuming yours does, it will be blue - that's the line in connector. You would hook that up to your stereo's Tape Out connector (the same connector you would hook up to your tape deck record input. You'll need a cable with RCA jacks at one end (Tape Out connector) and mini phono stereo plug at the other (line in connector on PC).
