There is the Dakar rally, which starts in Lisbon. Portugal and drives down the west of Africa... http://www.dakar.com/2007/DAK/presentation/docs/carte.pdf was this year's route. It used to be known as the Paris-Dakar rally because it started further north in Paris, I don't know why or when they changed that though.

Yes, the "Cannonball Run Europe". It is billed as a ralley but the trophy goes to the first to arrive. Also, La Carrera Panamerica is a revival of the Mexican Sports Car Road Race of the 50's. Third the Baja 1000 is run on some paved but mostly dirt roads in Baja Mexico featuring specially built dirt racers of all descriptions.
