In a way yes. We are being honest. I say that we spend far too much time trying to not offend folks that too often they get away with murder. I enjoy seeing hypocrites who have made a career of destroying others get their comeuppance.

If something is really vulgar/crude/insulting toward any group of people, I can't bring myself to laugh at it. I've received emails that I found really annoying and never laughed at for that reason. I have a great sense of humor, and can laugh at a lot of jokes that some would find a tad off color, but some are just disgusting. I think only a bigot could laugh at a joke full of bigotry.

Yes and no. Does that answer the question? Yes, what we find funny gives a hint to who we are. But no, laughing at something vulgar doesn't mean we are prone to vulgarity. I recall watching a TV announcer interviewing a tiny tyke. In response to one question, the kid answered truthfully and using language that would make a sailor blush. The unexpected outburst, coupled with the nearby parent's expression were an absolute hoot. I laughed the whole day every time I thought about the thing.

I think you can tell alot about a person by what they find funny. I know someone who laughs at others misfortune. Very off putting. I think it is a great indication of the level of intellect too. However, I must add that whenever my father got angry with me as a child, I used to laugh out loud through nerves. It seemed to be a protective mechanism to avoid the true pain of what he was saying. I do think that some people laugh out of embarassment too.
