Is it worth it to weigh in on religious questions when you get downrated for simply stating your opinion?

Yes, it is. Down rating does not have an effect on you total score, as I understand it. Weighing in is important to others, too. Its persepctive.Dont let those sad poeple keep you from expressing yourself. Its what they want.

It depends on what is more important to you - your religious beliefs or your AnswerBag ratings. If you are contributing an honest and appropriate response, it can be frustrating when someone downrates you for disagreeing - but does it change what you believe? Do you couch your answers to prevent it? Do you pull your punches?

Religious, social, economic...whatever. That's what this forum is for. Yes it's worth it.

It is always worth it. The forum is to share information, views and comments. There are always ways to answer such questions without being judgmental and not offending the other side.

i always state my ideas they hurt the tranquil masses and they down grade me that gives me the reasons to continue the fight against obscurantism. we all should be allowed to express our views many of my questions are rejected as too sensible, now i use the answer to put my point across . but times are getting better religions are on the way down and out soon

i answer in the hope that the person asking at least has the decency to be as open minded as the question implyies they are. it is the commenters who whin and if they disagree they need not read controversial material.

They are about the only ones I have been downrated in. Only a few political or other answers/questions have been DR'd by anybody. I don't understand this, as any opinion board should be open to "opinions", right? And I don't understand why some are so eager to downrate anyone's opinion on a subject that is virtually 100% opinion. If it a historical or factual error, that is different, but a simple comment could correct the error. Why DR? Especially why DR without even answering or commenting yourself? Pretty cheap if you ask me....

down ratings are gold stars in the religions section. who wants a yes man. if you dont stir up discussion why even enter the arena. your opinion demands flack. I know my heretic attitude isnt appreciated. still i have an opinion and i am free to declare it. someone will always uprate downrates. i like downrated questions and answers. If i think they are wrong i can change them or delete them.
