  • I know you have something to say but I would really appreciate it if you could be a little patient with me. Thank you for your understanding.

That's good! Have you been professionally trained?
  • try interrupting theirs, they might get the message
  • There's no nice way. You have to assert your dominance. Say I am speaking and you are interrupting me
  • I like leeks answer! I usually do what Pearl said, but I don't think that's a good answer. I look forward to hearing other answers and learning from them. This is one area in which my learning is deficient. My mother threw a look that would shut us up in nanoseconds! Ah the 'good ole days'! And probably part of the reason my learning is deficient. So on behalf of all the interrupters of the world I apologize. Some of us were raised by mentally damaged mothers. I don't know anyone else's excuse. But at least I'm trying to learn to do better. Thank you for your patience!
  • If someone interrupts me I say, "Let me finish." This draws attention to their interruption, then gives them the option to let you finish or be rude and carry on talking over you. If they carry on talking then I go quiet because clearly what I am saying is falling on deaf ears, and its hard to have a conversation when only one person is doing the talking.
