No one is going claim to be an outright racist. They'll split hairs until there's nothing left to prove that they're not. You know already that you judge people by their words or actions, not by what they tell you about themselves.

I'm a bit racist. I've always been a little racist towards Puerto Ricans, because of the neighborhood I grew up in. I can obviously reason through it and say, "hey, being racist is dumb, and I shouldn't be." But, I still naturally have issues trusting, being attracted to, and generally liking Puerto Rican people, which is very odd, considering that I have plenty of Puerto Ricans in my family tree. People get angry at me for saying this. ...At least I admit it, dumbasses.

It's hard to admit that you hate a group of people for no reason. Even if it's obvious, they still won't come out and just make their ignorance official. It's just like Christians hating homosexuals, they have no reason for their hatred, so they just make excuses.
-
There are a couple who openly admit to being racists on here. I do not mind them nearly as much as the ones who are obviously racist yet lie about it.
-
There are 2-3 people just here on AnswerBag who proudly admit to being racist. I personally know a few, too, one, sadly is a family member.
-
before I answer I want to know your definitionof racisist

I think it 's possible to be racist against an ethnic GROUP, but it's a little more difficult to be racist against someone from that group that you know personally.

If there is one thing certain about Americans is their inability to admit mistakes and take responsibility for them. So, the answer to your question is a resouding NO! You're not supposed to hear what they say that's spiteful, racist and bitter, you're only supposed to hear the part where they tell you that they're not
-
Everyone is racist to a point
-
Why do we need an admission? It is obvious who is and isn't racist. Calling someone out rarely gets the desired results. Do like I do - if you don't like associating with them, then don't. +6 for the obvious frustration you feel.

The only open one i know about it on this website is Mr. Bill. read his answer to this question. his is number 6 out of 7 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1346806

Yes, some people here openly admit it. With no problems. Awful.

My husband admits to having racists tendencies - it springs back to the neighborhood he grew up in and how certain groups of people in that neighborhood treated those not of their group. He was attacked several times by a large group of people solely for walking down his own street with his Walkman on. At the same time, he had friends of differing ethnicities, and still does. He is aware of his biased first impressions, is not proud of them, and does not act on them.

I'd have to agree with Mistress_of_Paranoia, in the sense that, however guardedly, we all tend to like who we are. So we place our own country, province, clan, family above others. I'm racist, or prejudiced, in favour of America, Texas, Hardin County, and Scots. Shammer, you hit the nail squarely on the head. I met a man in a taverna on Crete one night, who said to me, "You, my friend, are a man for the Mediterranean. You're too well-founded to be American." He bought me several drinks too.

Something that has always confused me is why some racists do not admit that they are if they are so proud of hating a race or races.
-
Does pride in one's own ethnicity, nationality, religion, residence, or genetic heritage qualify as racism? If so, I'm a racist. Nonetheless, I have a marked tendency to deal with every person as an individual, based on what I see in him.

I'll go a step further. When I first went overseas, I was pretty settled on equality for all. But after ten years in the Middle East, I came home with a thoroughgoing dislike for Arabs, Persians, Iraquis, and Moselms in general. Pakistanis also get short shrift from me. Except, as noted before, for certain individuals whom I know well and like. OK, I contradict myself. Live with it.
