That the statement is part of his nomination campaign. Pulling out troops would depend on ground realities in 2008 under any presidency.

I think it shows that he really has no idea how to be President--nothing against him, but you cannot make those kind of blanket statements, you don't know what will happen in the next year.

If he's lying, well, the Republicans will have field day of it if he gets in. I think people will eventually realise that the soldiers there are part of the catastrophic violence, not a force eliminating it. Whether or not their continued presence will have any real effect depends on the tactical supremacy of the generals, and the overall morality of the soldiers themselves.

Well meaning pie in the sky.Obama would do a good job, I believe, but no one can make that kind of statement, esp. a politician. he has the House to cnsider. Rep opposition- same old same old politcally speaking.

Well the good part of all of this is when Obama does win, and the proverbial sh*it hits the fan... (And it will, as it honestly can't be helped at this point.) Do you really believe that the powers that be are going to just abandon him and let everything fall to crap? No the Republicans are going to protect their interests and so are the rest of the powers in the world. No one is going to allow this country to fall just because the president is wet behind the ears. He will have all the assistance and councel he needs to do the best job he can all things considered. You saw what happened immediately after the American dollar fell into the toilet, everyone elses followed suit. NO ONE wants that... Not even the Arabs want that which is why oil is at a 2 year low right now.... We set the pace for the rest of the global economy no matter what anyone else tries to do or say to counter it. Bush had Cheney... Look where that ended up. At least Obama cares about us... Cheney would just assume populate the moon and allow everything to go to hell in a handbag as long as him and his pet monkey were okay.

Well, we know that is bunk since he wasn't President then. How about just giving him a minute, okay? Rip him apart after he does nothing for the term like Bush. Believe me, if he screws this up, there will be zero second chance for re-election. I think he has a plan to set us on the right road.

as of today..this statement and many others he made then, were what made me realize how inexperienced and incapabable he was! I would of said ' YOU LIE '...lol.... as he spoke the other day on sending more troops to Afghanistan to help shut down the Taliban , which is the only way to finish it off...he said ' you have a have to strategy before you send in more troops'...well , duh!! how stupid does he think we are! and it was so ironic...he has a healthcare PLAN of his own , but no strategy, but his troops are fighting for him like a pack of wolves with no strategy whatsoever ...getting how's from the president or his partisan party is fruitless...they are winging it and lying all the way...their is not way to pass such crap without ALL AMERICANS, rich,middle , and poor PAYING DEARLY... He wasn't even the president in March 2008. If he promised that, he would have to buy a time machine and go back to pull the troops out when he was not even in power... Something tells me he didn't actually promise this.
