I think so! I also always hated when I had to take time away from my job that I didn't get paid for to wait for 2 or 3 hours in the waiting room! I would tell them that they need to make the wait much shorter because I couldn't afford to sit and wait while I could have been at work getting paid.

lol i remember seeing an episode of seinfeld like this. If a doctor did this to me, i wouldn't necissarily ask for compensation. Now if it happened repeatedly then yes i would. My family doctor doesn't charge for cancellations though.

if that doctor charges for cancellations then yes he/she should extend the same when cancelling.

I agree. they should be charged phat $$$. It's only fair.

i dont think so, these people have spent 7+ years in college and beyond so if they needed to spend a little more time on one patient and that means that they need to reschedule you, thats important and there arent nearly enough good doctors so lets not piss them off
-
If they cancel for any other reason than a medical emergency I think yes, they should respect your time and medical concerns.

I agree. I have a friend whose doctor scheduled her only every 3 months because he was so busy and then every time she would have a scheduled appointment they could call her to reschedule and it would be another 6 weeks. Another friend had a doctor she drove an hour to see and they would call her 15 minutes before her appt time to tell her not to come in (she was already there by then). Doctors don't care that patients miss work, school, etc because their time doesn't matter.

I agree. My time is as valuable as theirs ... Contractually, there's no way way to sue for compensation though. I HAVE walked out of dr's offices who kept ME waiting due to their poor use of time, scheduling, etc. Only once was the dr delayed because of an unexpected early twins delivery. That's different.
