  • Every store out there sells an "environmentally" friendly, reusable bag that you can buy. Wal-Mart should consider a take back program for electronics/batteries/ink cartridges, they should consider reducing their lighting (non-essential lighting), they should ask manufacturers to produce less packaging. Plastic bags are heinous, please don't get me wrong. But WalMart is at least offering people the option of going green with reusable bags. Many places do not make that offer - a side note: almost all stores will credit your total bill from 5 to 10 cent per bag that you bring in with you. I don't mean plastic or paper store bags - I mean reusable bags.
  • I think eventually they will stop supplying plastic bags altogether. Maybe offering the reusable bags for sale is their way of helping customers make that transition.
  • It's cheaper for them not to. It's not much more complicated than that. :P
  • Wal-mart doesn't care about the environment, they care about LOOKING like they care about the environment. it's all about getting the green shoppers. so they can get more of the green paper they love so much.
  • They're a for profit company. They spend a lot of that profit figuring out how to make more people buy their products and get themselves more profit. What they're after is the appearance of environmental friendliness. The people are the ones who can make change here. Either start the trend with everyone you know and as much of your community as you can, or stop shopping there. Wal*Mart's words don't mean crap compared to consumer dollars.
