No.

No, not in the slighest.

I don't think i personally can radically change the world... but certainly small steps can create a better place and change the world we live in to an extent. If we gather as a group or community we can make big changes for positive or negative changes to the world. Preferably positive!
-
no. I can't change it at all.
-
I don't, but I'd like to try to change a few lives. That I can do.
-
I think I can make a decent contribution.
-
Yes, I have no doubt I do indeed change the world every time I voice my view. Not Drastically or radically, But Some, nonetheless
-
yes, as long as your floss after every meal.
-
I can do my part. After all how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
-
Me personally? Probably not. I am not that ambitious, but I can work to make my part of the world better and maybe that will spill over and help others.
-
We all change the world a little bit at a time. That doesn't mean my particular changes are going to have a BIG impact on the world, or even a good one. But, hey!, you never know.
-
YES You can too ! you can do more than you think !
-
Uhuh no, no one can unless they possess a bomb or something.
-
Good question. I've heard: a) you can't control others around you, but just how you react to them b) we can all make a difference In order to make a difference you have to exert a certain amount of control over others Good question.

Not the world at large, no, but certainly the little place in it I inhabit. I can help my elderly neighbors. I can volunteer to help others in my community and do my part to contribute positively in the lives of my family and friends. And I can educate myself to better understand different cultures and beliefs, and to take a stand against ignorance and hatred wherever I encounter it.

The world I perceive is only in my mind, it's only in the sensual feelings of mine. If I become blind, deaf or stop grasping things, then there is no world for me anymore. If I change something in me, I comprehend things differently and the world changes. Well, you may think that this idea suits only individuals, not global world. But whole mankind perceive things like that. If they don't want to see different world than the world they think they live in, you'll never change them. Of course, it's always worth trying , but you must remember that their world is different from yours and you can only guess not understand how do they perceive the world.

Yes, in fact you can't AVOID changing "the world", because you and the world are not two separate things. The world changes constantly, you change constantly. There is cause-and-effect in both directions, and this is completely unavoidable. What people really mean when asking this question is "can you make the world fit your concepts of how it should be?", for which the answer is always NO. Heck, I can't even make MYSELF fit my concepts of how I should be. But change? You bet, all the time.

Yes, we all CAN, but whether we choose to or not is another story. Some high profile people have a better opportunity to do so (through their music, writings, politics, etc.), but we can all change our little corner of the world with minimal action, for better or worse--we decide.

Yes, of course I can. With every little thing i do, i change the world. When i say what im thinking. When i do things for others. When i do everything i can to change or keep something the same. When i do my best for things that i really care about . When i make myself proud of what i have done . When i try my hardest at things. When i fail, and i get back up and just keep on going, and fight for the things that matter TO ME. Hardly anyone else notices it, but i do.

Anyone can. Which reminded me of some guy who got people to write to Starkist to stop killing/selling Dolphins. Which means I might've eaten a dolphin once. ....

There once was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day he was walking along the shore, as he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man, and the young man wasn’t dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something, and very gently throwing it into the ocean. As he got closer he called out, “Good morning, what are you doing?” The young man paused, looked up and replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean.” “I guess I should have asked; why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?” “The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don’t throw them then they’ll die.” “But, young man, don’t you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it. You can’t possibly make a difference!” The young man listened politely, then bent down, picked another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, “It made a difference for that one.”-Author Unknown- Every time I think about changing the world, I think to this story... I once saw it on a commercial on WQAD as an inspirational thought... Only they used a father, his son and a little girl... and after the girl throws it, the son picks one up and does the same... about that time 25 or 30 other people come onto the screen and do the same... then the father picks up his, and returns it to its home.... http://www.starfishdifference.org/

We all change the world, each of us, all the time. Most of the time it isn't conscious, but it can be. We choose to do something good, or let that opportunity pass by. One act at a time, one person at a time, this is how the world changes. When I was 10 years old, the US passed the Civil Rights Act. I was just a little kid, but I was so excited about it! I really thought that now, everyone would have to treat each other equally, and love each other, and have friends of all colors. What a momentous occasion, and I was there to see it! I cannot tell you how terribly disillusioned I was when the next day, the next month, the next year, nothing had changed. I was hurt and baffled. But when the hurt started healing I realized something. It isn't the big, publicized, dramatic events that change the world. It is you making friends with your neighbor of a different color. It's you, opening your heart to little kids half a world away who have Aids. It's you, who got too much change from the cashier, returning it. It's you, that bus driver waiting just a few extra seconds for the panicking student who is racing toward the bus stop. You don't think those little things matter? They are ALL that matters. They change the world.

I like pillman2's story. It is like the motto I have: I may not be able to change the world, but I can make a difference in a small corner of it. I am insignificant in the scheme of things, but I help orphans in five houses in Bali. I sat and calculated it once, that over 10 years have clothed over 5000 kids. So you CAN make a difference. You just have to shift your focus from the impossible-to-solve big problems and start with a possible-to-solve little one. the good thing is, like in the story's coda, others have joined me in the work, so that if I should die tomorrow, there will still be funding and clothing coming in.

I've been busy saving it - but I do have some plans to change it. I have changed it already - but your question strikes me as future tense.
