Mentally. I also have an iPod inside my head when I want to listen to songs.

I still remember the tables I learned in primary school. They are good enough for simple math problems. But I do find it disturbing to see school going kids doing simple caculations on a calculator.

Mentally, there are some fun tricks for doing this. Here is a simple method to take squares of numbers near 50. For instance, if you want to find the square of 48: Fifty squared is 2,500 (no thinking needed). For numbers a few more or less than 50,the approximate square is that many hundreds more or less than 2,500. Because 48 is 2 less than 50, 48 squared is 200 less than 2,500-thus 2,300. To make a final tiny correction to the precise answer, just take that difference again ( 50 - 48 = 2 ) and square it. Thus the square of 48 would be 2,304.

Mentally for the most part. It drives my accountant wife crazy that i can figure percentages very close without a calculator. I just break everything down to factors of 10 and then fine tune.

Mentally calculate what 4 tomatoes will cost? Sure. Mentally calculate my taxes? No, I'll use the calculator for that!

Mentally of course it's only math not like it's something hard like remembering the names of every person your girl was EVER friends with along with ALL their anniversaries, birthdays, kids birthdays etc.... There will be a quiz later

I am a human calculator when I want to be; I just don't usually like to think much harder than calculating tips and adding up groceries and such.
-
Since we weren't allowed to use calculators in the schools I attended, I can do simple math in my mind.
-
Mentally can do math. I used to do the inventory in my dad's store and the store of a friend in my head.
