Why is it that most religions admonish the persecution of others, but so many religious people persecute those that do not share their beliefs?

I think that somewhere, somehow, we lost the acceptance of other religions. (or maybe it was never there.) I think that they are too busy trying to convert or persecute others that they've forgotten to accept other's beliefs.

People have the amazing ability to justify and rationalize their own acts.
