Why can't we give ratings to comments? I have found some pretty useful stuff there.

Very true I agree that we should be able to rate comments, but it's not all about the ratings... it's about us answerbaggers helping each other.

Comments are the only areas on the Bag that are untouched by the insane quest for points, points, points - even though points are almost meaningless now, in terms of what they say about the quality of some of the answers. Some comment threads are so long and unrelated, really, to the answers, it would be a logistical nightmare. I love comments, don't get me wrong. I just think that "Remarks Rating" would present some big problems and cause hard feelings. The comment box is the one place you can write what you think without worrying about a points wallop. Great question, by the way. I'm sure a lot of people have wondered the same thing and the issue needed to be addressed. And welcome to Answerbag:)

I would like a function for reporting offensive comments - like ones that basically say "**** you" to someone. It seems to me that I can only report questions or answers. Not that I'm looking for anything to report, but sometimes I come across things that do fall in that category.
