Not really, they should atleast meet you first.

Why not? It's public information and it's probably more telling about you than an interview.

No. I think there is way to much disrepect for privacy nowadays. The decision to hire should be based primarily on merit. I know there is alot to consider when hiring someone, but gees!...wtf. rooting through someones personal life is overdoing it a little. If they arent a child molester applying for a daycare position, or a thief trying to be a security guard...whats the big deal. Check their references,do a criminal background check. If they check out, hire them. if they don't work out on the job, fire them. it's that simple.

No, I don't think that's right 'cos work or business life is quite different from your leisures.

As an employer, why would I turn a blind eye to publically available information that might help me evaluate a prospective employee? That said, I don't give a hoot about someone's politics or sexual proclivities. I just want to know how well they will be able to do the job I plan to hire them for. The only personal activities that would interest me would be ones that might get them arrested -- depriving me unexpectedly of their services.

I don't think so. I think they need to meet you in person. Things on the internet can be 'doctored' and may not be accurate. +5

I think even though it is public record I think it is wrong

You mean invade my privacy? Stalk my AB questions/answers/comments? That's the only place I have online information. I realize anyone at anytime can invade my space, as is true of others' space. If a question/answer/comment of mine would cause me to be out of the running for a job, so be it. In the famous words of Popeye "I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam"! I probably wouldn't be a good fit if who I am ticked somebody off! :)
