  • All who preach the gospel prosper from it
  • It is very popular on TV. It is used by televangelists to justify their massive wealth and greed. It says that Jesus died so that we would be rich here on Earth, and if you give your money to the TV preacher you will get it back 100 fold, and if you have money or health problems it is because you don't have enough faith. The biggest perpetrators of this lie are, Joel Olsteen. Joyce Myers, The Trinity Broadcasting Network, Kenneth Copeland, and every preacher on TV basically.
  • Prosperity gospel would be more correctly called a prosperity principle based on Biblical teachings on how to structure the uses of money. The basic teaching is that everything we have originates from God and we should be be appreciative to Him for the things He provides on a productive Earth. God doesn't require we show appreciation but He likes it when we do. God has expressed that we don't need to run ourselves into poverty by excessive displays of devotion. Out of all we have He asks that if we're going to offer an offer of thanks that all that would be needed to show sincerity is to give back 10 percent of what He provides us. Only with money does He make an additional declaration that the giver from a sincere heart can expect to be blessed according to the gift given. He says that anyone can prove this true if they but try. The giving of 10 percent of ones income is called tithing. Having explained what the principle is I realize there are many preachers who preach this concept and nothing else from the pulpit with dollar signs in thier eyes. They never really get around to winning souls for Christ because preaching the gospel would take away from preaching money. The principle is real and Biblical but in the hands of the wrong people the masses are convinced to empty thier pockets in the belief that they will recieve far more than they give. God never ment for this principle to be so abused and can't support those kinds of preachers as legitamate. Fortunately God has another principle that comes into play here ; that by thier fruits you'll be able to spot them. Most people can tell a hustle when they see one.
