Labeling them for convenience 1 & 2 Your 2 step children (husband and ex) 3 & 4 His ex wife's two new children (ex and new husband) 5 Your new son (husband and you) 1 & 2 are full siblings (both parents the same) 3 & 4 are full siblings (both parents the same) 1 & 2 are half siblings to 3 & 4 (only mother in common) 1 & 2 are half siblings to 5 (only father in common) 3 & 4 are not related to 5 (different parents and different households) Step siblings (there are none here) are children with no parents in common, but with parents who have married each other. This would be the case where a couple married, each bringing a child from the previous marriage.

I am the youngest of 7 but we have 3 different fathers among us; however wenever refer to each other as half brother or sister. It is always brother or sister. I had to use that term once for a background check for law enforcement and it really irked me to have to do that.
