Yes, alimony or spousal support or child support all go to the ex, and you don't have to have it in your front pocket. The court is assuming you will continue to earn money, which is not an unreasonable assumption to make.

They can do most anything, lots of discretion in these type of cases.

But of course! It is not the Judge's problem or concern, if the money granted has been won and ordered to be paid, your immediate situation is not of their concern. Your bank accounts can be liened. Your wages garnished for a percent that would still provide you with some money to live on. Your assets can be taken and sold, or turned over to your Ex for sale. (more likely that they would be sold and the cash realized from the sale divided, NOT necessarily 50/50 either.)
