Most forms of birth control require that the patient be menstruating contemporaneously, for they work by interacting with the influx of hormones throughout the menstrual cycle. (Birth control pills, for example, work by tricking the body into thinking it's pregnant for 28 days or so before allowing the body to under menstruation naturally). This might not be the case of other forms, but I doubt it. Consult your doctor, or search the web, if you truly seek an answer to your question.
