Ladies...Do you think that drug store cosmetics are just as good as designer costmetics? I bought a $50 (Guerlain) gloss and I swear Bonnie Bell works/feels better for $3.99!

Most makeup looks/feels the same to me, no matter what price. But there is a particular brand that I really like. Physician's Formula, I think it's called. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's great.

You've discovered a secret those fancy, designer cosmetics people don't want you to know. You're mostly paying for the packaging and advertising budgets of those higher priced cosmetics and the drug store stuff works just as well a good bit of the time.

For certain cosmetics, it is absolutely true that drug store brands are just as good. For instance, Revlon creme eyeliner is better than Laura Mercier's and their nail polish is the bomb and chips less than Chanel's (I used to do nails) However, with items like foundation and eyeshadow you should splurge just a little more. The department store or salon eyeshadows apply smoothly and don't crease as readily. The same goes for foundations--the color stays truer and applies smoothly.

Some products like lip gloss and eye shadow are pretty much the same, but stuff like powder, foundation, concealer and a lot of hair products I'd rather buy designer because they ARE better quality and better for your skin/hair

I think there's good and bad in all price ranges. The one thing I wouldn't skimp on though is skin care products, I do spend a little more for quality with that.

A lot of cosmetic manufacturers make cosmetics for the designer market and the cheaper end of the market in one factory,the only difference is the fancy packaging and fancy names....thats what i think:)

well i dont notice the difference i used to buy lancome and chanel and from drug stores would be covergirl or maybeline and they are the same...the lipglosses from loreal are awsome and the ones from victoria secret and bath and body works the mint lip gloss i think they are better than the chanel, max, etc..

I read that borjouis is made by Chanel and it is a fraction of the cost:)

I like cheap stuff! Not that I'm rich enough to try out expensive stuff anyway lol. :P
