  • There are no proven risks asscoiated with the use of glassware in microwaves. Glass can contain additives that alter the melting point (make it higher as in test / boiling tubes) to make it useful, and some of the additives are known to leach out and into any contained liquids. This happens at temperatures too high to occurr in the microwave. They wouldn't make microwaves with glass plates in if they were hazardous.
