Ask if others are bringing gifts. If the answer is yes then take him something small -- even if you are told "oh but you don't have to bring a gift". It is a kind thing to do when you are invited into anyone's home to share an event.
-
Take him something small. A card with a lottery ticket would suffice. :D
-
Definitely! This is your friend b/f!!! Dont go all out, but buy him something nice and little, if he smokes maybe a nice lighter? Or a daily planner if he is the working type! If he likes computers or video games, buy a game!
-
go. and get him a card
-
Get him a card and a 6 pack of beer.
-
a card and cheapish bottle of wine would be nice
-
No, a card is polite - if you've only met him twice, do you want to appear like you fancy him?
-
Don't worry about getting him a present, you hardly know him. It's a party, it's not like you're the third wheel. Don't feel at all bad about not getting him anything! He won't give a lick-damn, won't even think about it.

If you attend a birthday party you should not arrive empty-handed in my opinion. Why not ask your friend what he would like and tell her your budget is tight. She'll appreciate that you care enough about her to ask and he'll appreciate the fact that you brought him something. Happy Wednesday! :)

This sounds like the perfect time for a gift card
-
I'd get a cheap bottle of Champaign or summink, I think it would be a little off not to take anything, although if you go overboard that would look abit odd too.
-
card and bottle of wine does the trick :D not too much not too little :D
