  • I have not heard about this kind of thing *exactly* but I have heard about some things like it happening - it's called cyber-bullying, and it's been shown to be just as brutal and damaging as bullying in real life. You should try to remedy the situation by figuring out who the person is who started the page, having them take it down, taking whatever action you feel is appropriate in the situation, and have your daughter explain to her friends that this person is NOT her.
  • I feel sorry to hear this. It is really a sad thing to happen to the self-esteem of a young girl child. Even though I haven't heard anything similar happening - I am sure it could happen to anyone. It may be the result of the childish prank of one of her so called friends in school, but it does cause damage. Social networking websites must find a way to prevent this sort of things from happening. Not only for children but for adults too. It could easily spoil anybody's reputation and standing in the society.
  • If you feel it's necessary, you can take a serious action about it. The service (facebook), together with the impersonator's ISP (Internet Service Provider) should be able to provide information to identify this person, if this information is requested by law.
